·        Staff Appreciation. When volunteering at the school during the day, night or weekend, the school guidelines apply. No children. If you are bringing in a breakfast for the staff you may bring school age children. They must stay with you until 7:45 when they may go to their class.

Purpose: Staff appreciation is held the first week of May. We try to plan it on a week when there is no school on Friday, or just a PDF on Friday.

Budget: $1500 Plan on 48 staff members, but check each year for list of teachers.

We plan a theme and give the staff food and gift items each day of the week.

Timeline: Plan your theme early. You can then buy things on clearance. We have been having meetings monthly from the start of the year after the PTA meetings.

When we do the theme we continue the theme throughout the whole week. We decorate Sunday and set up day 1 items in the teacher's lounge. This introduces the theme. This past two years we bought some nice gifts and had door prize drawings. Last year the them was "Best Staff in The State" and we did state fair activities. Each day they had to judge something and turn their choice in. That was the ticket for the door prize drawing. Each day we provide either a small breakfast, lunch or snack. Then on Friday we have a luncheon. 

We try to get donation from merchants to cover the cost.

Timeline:

Plan all year if possible. It takes a lot of time.

Check with Mr. Garretson and make sure you can do a luncheon on the Friday and how much time he will allow.

When sending out flyers, you need to plan about 2 weeks before the date you want them sent. The flyers need to be approved by the office. Get them to the office early on the week before the Tuesday folder you want them in. After they approve it then copy it. All Tuesday folder items need to be in the teacher's mail box the Friday before that Tuesday.

I send out a flyer to the parents the week before Staff Appreciation begins, informing them that we are thanking the staff the next week. That way if parents want to do their own thank yous to the staff they can.
